This meeting, the cadets participated in a Civil Air Patrol Olympic event hosted by C/1st Lt Britten. The challenges included exercising motivational skills, expert knowledge, brainstorming capabilities, and communication talent, among other things. Awards were given to the first-, second-, and third-place teams according to the speed in which the tasks were completed. Afterwards, a brief talk was held over Iowa Encampment, which three cadets had either staffed or attended the previous week. Then, C/Lt Col Ekstrand taught an Emergency Services class, focusing on line search techniques. At the end of his class, the squadron went on a mock search around the church, putting into practice what was learned. Lastly, during Commander’s Call, C/1st Lt Britten was promoted to C/1st Lt (ghost rank), an important step towards gaining her Earhart Award. Overall, the meeting was very fun and informative for everyone.
