2018 Civil Air Patrol Scholarship Award:

“SENT ON BEHALF OF MAJ GEN SMITH

Dear Cadet C/Maj Keller

Congratulations! You are selected to receive a 2018 Civil Air Patrol Scholarship, and I commend you on your superior performance as a student, citizen, and Civil Air Patrol member. Because of your outstanding efforts, you are selected to receive a(n) Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Academic Scholarship in the amount of $1900.

You will receive instructions on how to claim your scholarship from Cadet Programs NLT 10 April. If you are planning to use your scholarship to accept a slot at a National Flight Academy, use this award letter to secure your slot while your payment is being processed.

You had tough competition, and you should be proud of your selection. We received 244 scholarship applications, and 118 of the applicants had a 3.80 or higher GPA and an SAT score of 1311 and/or an ACT score of 30 or above. These scores put our scholarship applicants on academic par with US Air Force Academy entering freshman. For the aviation-minded, 74 of our applicants indicated they have piloting experience equivalent to the CAP pre-solo badge or more. Judging by the competition, your accomplishments place you at the top of the best of the best. I am pleased that we, CAP, can honor you with a reward for a job well-done, which helps you achieve your future academic or aviation goals.

Again, congratulations on earning this scholarship. I am confident that you will continue your outstanding efforts as a Civil Air Patrol ambassador and a role model in your community. Good luck on your future endeavors.

Sincerely

Maj Gen Mark Smith

Civil Air Patrol Commander
